The very hard frosts that we had at the beginning of the week have made me feel very glad that I am staying in a lovely, warm house with proper central heating and even under-floor heating. I think me and Phil got out of the caravan in the nick of time, so far we’ve had a very mild winter and have been very lucky. This week seems to have flown by. On Monday I went to the gym for a work out then it was back for lunch and in the afternoon Phil & I went to the cinema to see ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’. It was probably one of the most violent films that I have seen, but it was brilliant none the less and I can thoroughly recommend a viewing.
On Tuesday we drove down to Phil’s mum and dads. Poor George is still very unwell, he isn’t fit enough to drive the car and is struggling with even the most simplest of tasks. We went down to start on the packing. Phil got up and cleared the loft and me, mum and Phil cleared the spare bedroom. Lunch was easy because I’d taken down a lasagne and after lunch, Phil dropped me and mum off at Tesco’s so she could stock up supplies whilst he went and did a visit to the tip. I came away from Melton feeling that we have only touched the tip of the iceburg; Phil’s mum and dad have so some stuff, most of which is junk, I am dreading their moving day. I took my laptop and the printer down to mum and dad’s and whilst I was there I did about 20 moving letters. It wasn’t an easy task because they don’t have a filing system, bank statements, bills etc are stuffed into the envelopes that they arrived in. I had to go through lots of envelopes just to find the current stuff because they never throw anything anyway. It was a little delicate, but I had to ask them for their bank statements and saving books as I needed their account numbers so I could do the change of address letters. I was horrified to learn that they keep these in the airing cupboard along with their passports and a wallet with about a thousand pounds in it! Anyway I think I’ve managed to notify everyone but I am still doing a postal redirection just in case.
On Wednesday, I went to the gym and had a really good work out. I feel as if I belong at DW in MK and I don’t miss the daily drive to and fro from Northampton. Plus it gives me longer to work out. Phil did the lunch which was easy, jacket spuds and tuna with sweetcorn and flecks of chilli. After lunch we caught up with some paperwork and then watched some TV recordings, quite forgetting until it was too late, that Phil had a dentist appointment. Which reminds me that I must make another appointment for him. Phil was out with the boys on Wednesday night and Sue cooked me dinner. We had wine of course but I didn’t feel guilty because I’ve managed 2 nights alcohol free. I had meant to have 3 nights but that didn’t happen, maybe next week.
Phil started work at Cerulean on Thursday and getting up early with him was a bit of a shock to the system. He came back for lunch and seemed happy enough; he said he spent most of the morning just catching up with everyone. He was knackered at the end of his first day which is not surprising seeing as it’s been months since he last had to use his brain. The main thing was that he survived. Thursday was a bit of a lazy day for me and I didn’t do very much. I didn’t even go to the gym but I did venture up to the city centre in the afternoon. I hadn’t been for ages, although I had wanted to scour the sales after Christmas, but I missed the boat as it appears that the sales have all finished.
I did mean to blog first this morning but it didn’t happen. Phil was up early and was in work by 7am. I went to the gym, filled up with petrol, popped into Asda and was back in Newport for 10.30am. I had to drive over to Great Billing Garden Village to pick up the post from The Manor and Sue said she’d come with me. After getting the post, which consisted of only one letter, we did a bit of shopping and then went into the cafĂ© for a cup of coffee. It was a real shame that the skies were grey and it was raining hard, we had planned to shop in Northampton town centre but we decided to do this another day and instead drove back to MK. We had a voucher for the Toby carvery at Shenley Church End so we drove straight there. Unfortunately, the voucher was invalid but we were starving so we decided to stay and have lunch anyway.
We enjoyed our roast beef and turkey dinner which naturally we washed down with a glass of Merlot and finished up doing food shopping in Sainsbury’s. Which leads me right up to the present. Phil has just walked through the door and we are expecting Harriet for supper. Phil is cooking her favourite, omelette and home made chips. When the pots are cleared away, the wine will be poured and we are going to settle ourselves on the sofas for a movie night.

Jason and I went to the cinema to see Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. We didnt like it, far too violent, film was far too long and the rape scene was horrible to watch :( only good thing was seeing Daniel Craig naked :)
