All settled at No 2

It was gone half eleven by the time we finally left the caravan on Friday.  I managed to post a quick blog while Phil saw to Rick the plumber and the end, when it came, was quick and without much emotion.  Phil put the alarm on, I put the black sack of rubbish in the bins and then we set off to MK.  We stopped off at The Lamb in Stoke Goldington for a quick bite to eat and I guess it was just after one pm by the time we got to Sue’s.  It took a couple of hours to unpack; I didn’t think we’d have much stuff to bring on our last day, but as it turned out, we had 2 cars full of stuff.  It was fine though, there was enough room to put everything away and I don’t we have stuffed Sue’s house too much, although the garage is looking pretty full.  It will get sorted out in time.

Sue went to visit her dad and after unpacking, I left Phil home alone and went to the garage to fill up with petrol and I also went to the BP to get my car cleaned.  It was filthy from all the mud at Overstone.  It was all spick and span when the Polish guys had finished and certainly worth every penny of the 10 quid that it cost to be cleaned.  Afterwards I went to Boots in Newport to get some toiletries and it was gone 4pm by the time I got back to Number 2.  A lot had happened while I’d been out.  Phil’s mum had phoned to say that they had finally exchanged and also Phil had got himself a new contract.  He starts work back at Cerulean on Thursday for a 1 month contract.  The timing isn’t perfect because mum and dad complete on the 30th but Phil had to say yes to the new contract because short term contracts are what he wants; it brings in some money but doesn’t stop us from going away.  God only knows how we will fit in moving mum and dad but we will have to somehow.

Sue cooked did us dinner on Friday night, Phil ate and went to bed early and Sue & I stayed up and chatted over wine but it wasn’t a late night.  On Saturday morning, after scraping the car after the hard frost, I went to the gym and then shopped at Asda.  It felt pretty cold outside and I think we have left the caravan in the nick of time.   The winter so far has been pretty kind to Phil & I and I think we have got off fairly easy living in the caravan.  Moving in October wasn’t the best idea but we got off fairly lightly.  We have left just one heater on low in the caravan so hopefully it won’t freeze and everything will be okay when we return in March.  That is, if we return.  Who knows where we will be, one just never knows in the life of the Naked Bloggers; anything can happen.

It was a bit of a last minute decision late Saturday morning but we ended up at Wagamama’s for lunch and we persuaded Sue to come along for the ride.  She had never been to Wagamama’s before but she said she enjoyed the experience.  Phil & I hadn’t been for ages and we all enjoyed our noodles.  After lunch, we went to the cinema to watch Mission Impossible.  The film was a little predictable but we all enjoyed the escapism.  It was a nice, easy relaxing day and I for one enjoyed it.  Sue was out for supper with friends on Saturday night, me and Phil caught up with Celebrity BB and I was in bed for 9 o’clock.

Again, another hard frost on Sunday morning which meant more scraping of the car windscreen.  Phil peeled the veggies for me and after breakfast, I took myself to the gym.  I only went for a swim and a steam and I only had a 2 minute shower because the boiler wasn’t working at DW which meant no heating and no hot water.   The cold shower certainly woke me up and I was back at no 2 by half ten, in time to put the chicken in the oven and to prepare the Sunday lunch.  Phil had taken himself off to Overstone to collect a couple of bits from the caravan and also to pick up the post from The Manor.  I served up lunch for 1pm and Harriet drove over to join us.  It’s a bit of a trek for her to drive all the way over to Northampton and I think she has missed her mum’s roast dinners.  Lunch was good even if I do say so myself, and after the clearing up, Harriet went back home and we had an easy day.  Sunday papers, a bit of telly and generally slobbing out.  We’ve only been here for a couple of days but already I feel at home.  They say home is where the heart is, and I for one, certainly feel much happier for being back in MK.
